** Answer **

This is a common problem for first-timers to stone walls. That is usually caused from using all soil to back - fill the wall. The first 6-12 inches behind the wall (depending on wall height) should be back - filled using crushed stone or small gravel up to the last course (row) of the wall. We recomend 1/4" crushed limestone. Then a layer of soil to finish off the top. This almost completly eliminates the "soil bleed through" You can correct this by removing some of the back - fill soil and installing the crushed stone or gravel. This can usually be done without disassembling the wall if care is taken and the wall is small.
