Question

I have built a small decorative stone retaining wall at the corner of our home , and it looks pretty good for never doing one before , until it rains. I get soil that runs through the cracks and down the front of the wall , creating quite a mess not to mention what it looks like. I see others with the same problem and some without. What is the difference? And can I easily fix this? Thanks, Howard - OH

Question

My question is on lighting. We are finally in our first new home and we are planning to do the landscaping ourselves to save some money. We would like to have lights incorporated in the landscape but can't decide which is the best to use low voltage or standard 115/120v. What do you recommend ? Dale - MN.

Question

Our new house has a fairly large deck overlooking our back yard and pool. I would like to have a small courtyard type rose garden to one side of the pool. I really have an image of what I want it to look like but, I've not had much luck with roses and would look beautiful where I vision them. What's the trick to growing great looking roses ? And will they do well by the pool or should I perhaps plant something different since my rose growing attempts have failed in the past ? Anne - Ill.

Question

We have discovered several areas throughout our lawn have died. Underneath the dead grass, which pulls up easily, we can see several white C-shaped grubs. How do we stop the damage from spreading anymore? Should we reseed that area this fall with new grass seed or sod or should we wait until spring? How do we eliminate grubs in the future? We live in central Nebraska and should have 70-80 degree days for the next month to six weeks and have hot, sometimes very dry months of July and August. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated. Bruce

Question

I live in the mountains of North Georgia. I am getting ready to landscape down the side of our home. We just had a 65' x 5' walkway poured and I am landscaping either side of it. My problem is that we have a four month old Great Pyrenees pup who thinks all plants are for chewing/tasting. What can I plant that is hardy and safe for pets? Are there any perineals that are pet safe?
